Nostalgia
Art of the modern American west. Painting simple times and forgotten places.

Chad Carter
Growing up in Central California, I've had the privilege to experience a little of everything. The Pacific Ocean and the Sierra Nevada mountains were both only a few hours away, while daily life in my community revolved mostly around agriculture. This environment has and continues to shape the art I create today.
As a kid, my parents both worked long hours and as a result I spent a lot of my time at our church's day care program passing the time by drawing and painting. This is where i first realized I had an intense desire to create, and it quickly turned into an obsession.

My art is inspired by old cabins, carbureted vehicles, and family history. Songwriters like Jim Croce, Gregory Alan Isakov, John Prine, The Band, and Thin Lizzy.
I create to take myself back to days spent by the river, walks with my childhood dog through eucalyptus groves, road trips through the American West, finding a quiet rural moment, and conversations with friends over a beer after a long week of work.
If you can relate to the nostalgia of a forgotten, slower way of life, you're in the right spot.
